Exposed: UNRWA’s Rigged “Independent” Review

UN Photo/Manuel Elías

On February 5, 2024, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres announced the appointment of an “Independent Review Group” with the stated purpose of assessing whether the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) “is doing everything within its power to ensure neutrality and to respond to allegations of serious breaches when they are made.”

A brief examination of all of the parties involved in the review group confirms that they are not unbiased, objective observers. Rather, Ms. Colonna, the three organizations, and many of their staff have previously issued statements, published content, and liked social media posts demonstrating their positive feelings towards UNRWA and its work, often even after the newfound allegations of UNRWA’s links to Hamas post-October 7th, and their animosity towards the State of Israel.

LIVE EVENT

International Summit for a Future Beyond UNRWA

The international summit will address the humanitarian situation in Gaza and plan for a future beyond UNRWA. The goal will be to develop a program of action for the international community to fully ensure the humanitarian and other needs of Gazans, while preparing to transition away from a failed agency.

The summit will take place as a side event to the 2024 opening of the United Nations Human Rights Council, which will gather the UN’s highest officials, including secretary-general Antonio Guterres, and foreign ministers from around the world.

UNRWA must be dissolved and replaced.

Don’t let your government continue spending your money on the radicalization of Gaza. Humanitarian aid and UNRWA’s toxic mandate must be immediately decoupled. Aid should flow through other agencies which already operate in Gaza, and which are experts at this task everywhere else in the world, such as the WHO, the World Food Programme, or UNICEF.

Enough is enough. It’s time to stop the perverse logic of an agency that perpetuates war. It’s time to replace UNRWA.

Telegram Group Shows UNRWA Teachers Endorsing Hamas Violence on October 7th

As war wages on between Israel and Hamas in Gaza, UN Watch has uncovered a Telegram group chat of over 3000 UNRWA teachers replete with posts celebrating October 7th, praising murderers and rapists as “heroes” and urging the execution of hostages.

This is in addition to a recently released UN Watch report that reveals how UNRWA teachers in the enclave, funded largely by the U.S. and EU, indoctrinate Palestinian children and promote terrorism and antisemitism.

Condemn Hamas Rape & Fire UN Women's Sarah Douglas

Under the leadership of Executive Director Sima Bahous, the former Jordanian Ambassador to the UN — and Deputy Chief Sarah Douglas, who deleted her social media accounts after being exposed for endorsing 153 pro-Hamas tweets, in violation of her oath of neutrality — UN Women shamefully waited 57 days after the attack to condemn Hamas committing mass rape.

We appeal to UN Women Goodwill Ambassadors Nicole Kidman, Anne Hathaway and Emma Watson to speak out loudly and forcefully against the mass atrocities and rape committed by Hamas terrorists against Israeli women on October 7th and demand that UN Women fire Sarah Douglas for violating her oath of neutrality, endorsing anti-Israel tweets, and betraying Israeli women.

End Item 7

Every session of the UN Human Rights Council features a standing agenda item targeting Israel. No other country in the world—not Iran, Russia or North Korea—is singled out in this fashion.

We examine false claims made at the UN under this rubric, shows viral videos of UN Watch’s speeches in the Item 7 debates, and provides other key information to support the campaign to abolish a discriminatory institution that was condemned by UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon the day after its adoption.

Terminate the U.N.'s Anti-Israel Commission of Inquiry

The U.N.’s new Commission of Inquiry against Israel, initiated by Pakistan and the PLO, is a travesty of justice. Despite U.N. rules requiring impartiality, each of three commissioners has a record of extreme anti-Israel positions. One of them was even condemned worldwide for making antisemitic remarks. It’s time to end the U.N.’s perpetual inquisition against the Jewish state.
